Kelompok Penerbang Roket is an Indonesoa rock band from Jakarta. Formed in 2011, the band features singer-bassist John Paul Patton, singer-guitarist Rey Marshall, and drummer I Gusti Vikranta. Their musical styles are inspired, not by any typical American or European bands, but local legends such as as Panbers and AKA. They even named the band “Kelompok Penerbang Roket”, taken from “Mercarter Roket”, a song by Indonesia’s rock band, Duo Kribo.
Teriakan Bocah is an energetic debut album released in 2015 by Kelompok Penerbang Roket. Produced by Didit Saad, one of the most respected guitarists in Indonesia, the album portrays Jakarta’s real situation with lyrics full of critics, and protests. Released by Serita Angkasa Records, the album gained a nationwide attention.

After a few months, Kelompok Penerbang Roket released HAI, a tribute album to Panbers. The band interpreted eight Panbers song into a psychedelic rock album. The album was an award from Jack Daniel’s On Stage lndoe Band Competition that the band won, with a grand prize of one album contract with Sinjitos Records. Just like Teriakan Bocah, HAI also received media attention from some of lndonesia1s biggest media such as MetroTVnews.com and Tempo.
In 2016, the band released a debut cassette for their new single II Jimi Hendrikoes 11 and II Let Us Dance together” by Panbers. Jimi Hendrikoes was released in a special boxset package limited to 150 copies. “Jimi Hendrikoes” is fictional character created by Kelompok Penerbang Roket harmonized with rock rhythm with a blend of Dangdut. The lyric is about a young musician who grew up in Surabaya with a wild dream to become legendary musician.
